The issue of canceling debt obligations on microloans registered by fraudsters in the name of citizens in Uzbekistan is being discussed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This initiative was put forward during a meeting led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev within the framework of measures to combat cybercrime. Over the past five years, cybercrimes in the country have increased significantly.
According to data, more than 46,000 cybercrimes have been recorded this year alone. As a result of these crimes, the damage caused to citizens and business entities has exceeded 1.2 trillion soms.
The meeting discussed the weaknesses of personal data protection systems. In particular, it was noted that fraudsters are actively operating in transactions related to bank cards.
The government plans to take a number of measures against this. Among them, a daily blocking system for suspicious accounts will be introduced, and mandatory cybersecurity requirements will be established for all organizations working with personal data.
Additionally, responsibility for cases of illegal use of data will be strengthened. A special registry is also planned to be established.
The President gave instructions to further develop the Cybersecurity Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, increase the efficiency of detecting digital crimes, and introduce seven new types of digital expertise. According to experts, fraudsters can successfully carry out attacks within a few hours using social engineering methods, such as phishing.
However, identifying and eliminating the consequences of such attacks may take companies months. Source: zamin.uz
