President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with John Yovanovich, head of the US Export-Import Bank (Eximbank), in Washington on November 6. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main purpose of the meeting was to take economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the US to a new level. This was reported by the President's press service.
Eximbank is the official export credit agency of the US government. The bank's primary task is to support American companies' international economic activities through insurance, guarantees, and credit instruments.
During the conversation, opportunities for implementing large-scale cooperation projects between Uzbekistan and Eximbank in the fields of energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, and information technology were discussed. Special attention was paid to the participation of the prestigious US financial institution in modernizing Uzbekistan's aircraft fleet, purchasing new generation Boeing airplanes, and their delivery.
The President noted that cooperation in this area is an important factor in developing the country's transport infrastructure. Both sides expressed interest in developing long-term financial partnership during the meeting.
It was agreed to develop new mechanisms for financing strategically important projects in the future. Additionally, the active participation of Eximbank in financing projects in agriculture and industry, as well as creating favorable conditions for local producers, were also discussed.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement on joint project financing was signed between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and the US Export-Import Bank. This agreement is expected to take economic cooperation between the two countries to a new level and create broad opportunities for American business to enter the Uzbek market.
According to analysts, this meeting not only strengthens financial relations between Uzbekistan and the US but also reaffirms Uzbekistan's openness to foreign investments. Within the framework of the President's working program in Washington, other important meetings with major corporations in the fields of technology, energy, and logistics are also planned.
