The government of Uzbekistan has put forward a new initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to this initiative, Uzbekistan has introduced a visa-free regime for US citizens for up to 30 days. In response, Uzbekistan proposed to implement a 10-year visa validity regime for its citizens traveling to the United States.
This proposal is aimed at further deepening cooperation between the two countries and was put forward by Komil Allamjonov, advisor to the head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan. The initiative was warmly received by the United States.
US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau emphasized that this decision will open new opportunities for American tourism. On October 27, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the US delegation.
During the meeting, issues of developing strategic partnership and implementing previously reached agreements were discussed. US President’s special envoy Sergio Gore participated in the meeting, noting that he was born in Tashkent and conveyed greetings from US President Donald Trump to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The proposed 10-year visas are part of Uzbekistan’s broad strategy to liberalize its visa policy and develop the country’s tourism sector. According to a presidential decree, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with increasing the flow of foreign tourists, introducing a visa-free regime for US citizens, and negotiating visa simplification for Uzbek citizens.
This initiative by Tashkent is a logical continuation of its openness policy and aims to achieve equal visa parity with the United States, one of its key international partners.
