
New and strict measures are being taken in Uzbekistan within the framework of combating drug addiction. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to official sources, penalties for individuals committing serious drug crimes will be increased in accordance with the new law.
In particular, imprisonment for up to 20 years has been established for crimes such as illegal production, distribution of narcotic substances, or organizing a drug trafficking group. Additionally, cases involving the misuse of official authority to circulate narcotic substances, cross-border or online distribution are also considered serious crimes.
Persons consuming narcotic substances in public places may face administrative detention for up to 15 days. Furthermore, drug crimes committed involving minors and youth are regarded as aggravating circumstances.
Liability for cases of drug distribution within educational institutions, student dormitories, or children's camps is further strengthened. These measures are aimed at reducing drug crimes in the country, protecting young people from various harmful habits, and ensuring public safety.
