The press service of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights has published information regarding appeals related to biologically active supplements (BAS) and other products. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Committee monitors compliance with consumer rights protection and the requirements of the "Advertising Law." For this purpose, regular control purchases are conducted for food products, medicines, and BAS.
The results of control purchases conducted in recent years are as follows: in 2023, 397 purchases were made, of which 24 were found to be substandard. In 2024, 560 purchases were conducted, with violations identified in 95 cases.
In 2025, out of 618 purchases, 123 did not meet the established requirements. To date, the Committee has received 2,345 appeals concerning food products, medicines, and BAS.
Of these, 337 (14 percent) were specifically related to biologically active or food supplements. The majority of appeals are connected to consumers purchasing BAS based on advertisements on television, radio, and social networks, which either did not deliver the expected results or negatively affected health.
It is reminded that biologically active supplements are not considered medicines and are not intended for treating diseases. They are used to support body functions or for preventive purposes to avoid certain illnesses.
Therefore, it is important to consult a doctor before taking any supplements. The Committee urges the public to pay attention to the following: do not trust advertisements that present biologically active supplements as medicines; do not be misled by false promises such as "Cures all diseases in one month"; use only products approved by the Ministry of Health and possessing official certification.
