The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reviewed the problems in the healthcare system and analyzed important issues in this regard. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the President's press service, it was found that gastrointestinal diseases have decreased 1.5 times over the past five years. However, positive changes in this area have not been observed in the Kashkadarya and Navoi regions.
Specifically, in Yakkabog district, 33 percent of citizens sought medical help for gastrointestinal diseases, while in Guzar district this figure was 29 percent, and in Koson and Mirishkor districts it was 25 percent. During the meeting, doctors were criticized, especially for prescribing antibiotics to children without proper control.
Additionally, it was noted that training of medical personnel in rural areas has not been adequately organized. Attention was also drawn to problems related to kidney diseases among the population.
It was reported that in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Fergana, and Andijan regions, kidney diseases are 40-50 percent higher than the average indicator. The head of state instructed urology and nephrology centers to conduct broader explanatory work locally and to strengthen measures to address problems in this field.
