At a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, new decisions aimed at supporting the private sector in healthcare were adopted. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to these decisions, the customs privileges granted for importing medical equipment, devices, and ambulances for private clinics have been extended for another three years. In recent years, private healthcare in Uzbekistan has developed significantly.
Over the past eight years, the number of private clinics and laboratories has tripled, reaching more than 9,000 institutions today. These clinics have over 57,000 beds, and 30 percent of medical services in the country are provided by the private sector.
The head of state positively assessed this development and emphasized that advanced initiatives are emerging in the private healthcare sector. At the same time, the government expressed its readiness to expand partnerships with the private sector.
Furthermore, in the future, patients will have the opportunity to direct their medical insurance funds to private clinics of their choice that offer affordable and quality services. At the meeting, it was announced that the VAT refund privilege granted to public catering enterprises will also be applied to private healthcare institutions.
In addition, entrepreneurs will be allocated preferential financial resources worth 200 million dollars to establish and equip modern multidisciplinary clinics. These funds will be provided for a term of 7 years, with a 3-year grace period and an interest rate of 17 percent.
These measures will contribute to the further development of private healthcare and enable broader provision of quality and affordable medical services to the population. Source: One.uz.
