The number of students in the higher education system in Uzbekistan is increasing significantly. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In particular, the enrollment rate of girls in higher education is high, with new records being set in this regard. According to data from the National Statistics Committee, a total of 381.7 thousand applicants were admitted to the country's higher education institutions in the 2024/2025 academic year.
This figure has increased nearly 2.2 times compared to the 2020/2021 academic year. Interestingly, the majority of admitted students are girls.
Out of the 381.7 thousand students admitted to higher education this year, 196.7 thousand are girls, while 185 thousand are boys. This indicates increased activity of girls in pursuing education.
By region, the highest number of students were admitted in the city of Tashkent. A total of 155.2 thousand students were admitted here.
Following are Bukhara region (31.5 thousand), Tashkent region (22.7 thousand), and Samarkand region (21.2 thousand). In Kashkadarya, 28.8 thousand; Fergana, 20.7 thousand; Surkhandarya, 16.8 thousand; Namangan, 16.1 thousand; Khorezm, 16.8 thousand; and Karakalpakstan, 18.6 thousand students were admitted.
The lowest figure was observed in Sirdaryo region, where only 5.3 thousand students were admitted. These changes may be the result of ongoing reforms and expanded opportunities in the education sector in the country.
Additionally, girls' interest and initiative in pursuing education also serve as important factors in this process.
