
Head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva held a meeting with a business delegation from the US state of Utah on November 12. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The delegation was led by David Bednar during the meeting. It was emphasized that relations between Uzbekistan and the US are entering a new stage.
The decision of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to introduce a visa-free regime for US citizens was specially noted at the meeting. This decision was highlighted as an important step in strengthening business and humanitarian ties.
It was also announced that, by presidential decree, the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council has been established. To coordinate this council, the position of counselor-ambassador was introduced within Uzbekistan’s embassy in the US.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan residents were granted the right to freely transfer funds from their bank accounts to open businesses in the US, participate in their activities, or finance their branches. During the meeting, these measures were particularly noted as serving to increase entrepreneurs’ foreign economic activity, strengthen investment cooperation with the US, and shape Uzbekistan’s image as a modern, open economy.
