
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held expanded negotiations in Tashkent at the Koksaroy residence with the participation of official delegations. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Before the meeting, the heads of state emphasized that the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan is an important event demonstrating the strength of the centuries-old friendship and good neighborly relations between the two brotherly peoples. The negotiations discussed issues of further strengthening the friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership relations between the two countries.
Achievements in areas such as trade, transport, energy, and water management were highly appreciated. It was also noted that in recent years, the volume of mutual trade has doubled, exceeding 1 billion dollars.
It was emphasized that all opportunities exist to increase this figure to 2 billion dollars in the near future. The launch of the “Shovot–Toshhovuz” border trade zone was recognized as an important step in developing goods exchange.
An agreement was reached to apply this experience in the “Olot–Farab” area as well. To expand industrial cooperation, the importance of implementing new joint projects for the production of construction materials, pharmaceuticals, food products, and other high-demand goods was highlighted.
Agreements were signed to jointly develop promising deposits and deepen cooperation in the energy sector. In the transport sector, issues of increasing cargo transportation volume, simplifying customs and logistics processes, as well as jointly developing the Turkmenbashi port were discussed.
The parties agreed to restore direct air flights between Tashkent and Ashgabat. The importance of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere was especially noted.
The Turkmenistan Culture Days and screenings of Turkmen films held in Urgench and Tashkent aroused great interest. Agreements were reached on future mutual concerts, theater tours, organizing a youth forum in Khiva, and producing joint films.
At the end of the negotiations, the heads of state gave instructions to prepare and approve a “roadmap” for implementing all the agreements reached. The results of the official meetings are expected to bring cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
