An important step has been taken to develop cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A decision was made to restore direct air routes between the cities of Tashkent and Ashgabat. This agreement was reached as a result of expanded-format negotiations between the presidents of the two countries, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During the negotiations, the issue of activating bilateral trade relations was discussed in detail. In particular, the launch of the "Shovot – Dashoguz" border trade zone was evaluated as an important step.
The operation of this zone is expected to significantly increase the volume of goods exchanged between the two countries. Additionally, the parties expressed their readiness to explore the possibility of applying this experience to other border regions, including the "Olot – Farab" area.
Besides land trade, the countries also reached an agreement on jointly developing the Turkmenbashi port. This agreement will serve to further strengthen economic cooperation in the region.
