President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has adopted new decisions aimed at developing the tourism and ecology sectors. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to this decision, the Tourism Committee will be separated as an independent state body. At the same time, based on the Ministry of Ecology, the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change will be established.
The new committee will be removed from the Cabinet of Ministers and will be headed by the President’s adviser on ecological matters. The National Ecology Committee will implement a number of important projects.
In particular, implementing national programs such as "Waste-Free Zone," "Clean Air," "Green Space," "Ecoculture," and "Biodiversity" will be among its main tasks. Additionally, within the committee, an "Eco-Projects Factory" and Ecological Police will be established.
Ecological Police officers will be provided with special equipment, service weapons, and uniform with cameras. The decision also discussed issues related to launching the National Ecological Monitoring Center.
By September 2026, a unified online platform in the field of ecology will be launched. Furthermore, enterprises of categories I and II are required to install background monitoring stations by March 1, 2026.
If this requirement is not met, compensation payments imposed on enterprises will be increased fivefold. To prevent ecological violations, the procedure for issuing permits for cutting or transplanting trees will be tightened.
Issuing permits in violation of ecological requirements will be prohibited. Starting from April 2026, citizens will have the opportunity to initiate actions against illegal cutting of trees not included in the forest fund.
Such measures are aimed at maintaining ecological balance and protecting the environment. Source: Press service of the head of state.
