On November 20, Tashkent city ranked among the top positions among major cities worldwide in terms of air pollution. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to data from the international portal IQAir, our capital took second place among the world's megacities. This situation indicates that the amount of harmful particles in the air is very high and poses a serious threat to public health.
According to measurements taken at 18:55 Tashkent time, the concentration of fine particles of type PM 2.5 in the air reached 166 µg/m³. This figure is 33.2 times higher than the level recommended by the World Health Organization, confirming once again how serious the situation is.
Experts recommend that the population strengthen precautionary measures. It is important not to go outside unless necessary, and especially for people suffering from respiratory diseases to wear medical masks.
When entering the home, washing the face and hands thoroughly, cleaning rooms from dust, and keeping doors and windows closed also help protect against air pollution. Additionally, it is necessary to make a habit of cleaning the interior with a damp cloth.
Ozgidromet had previously issued a warning about air pollution in Tashkent. According to experts, this situation is related to an inversion caused by sharp temperature changes.
Under inversion conditions, harmful substances accumulate in the air layer close to the ground and their dispersion becomes difficult. This situation once again reminded the residents of Tashkent about the importance of ecological safety and personal precautionary measures.
