A new National State Target Fund for Addressing Environmental Issues has been established in Uzbekistan to systematically solve environmental problems. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This initiative once again confirms the country's commitment to ecological sustainability and the important role of this sector in state policy. In 2025, 900 billion soums are planned to be allocated from the state budget for the fund.
These funds will be directed towards improving the environment, regional development, and other ecological purposes. According to Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Central Bank, due to the strengthening of the national currency, 1.3 trillion soums were saved on state debt, and part of these savings will be spent on environmental projects.
In 2026, 548 billion soums are allocated for projects within the fund. Part of these funds will be spent on the "Green Space" project, sanitary cleaning works in cities and districts, establishing protective forests against desertification and wind erosion, as well as purchasing modern forestry equipment.
Additionally, cadastral work on natural areas and wildlife is also planned. From 2026, the fund's revenue sources will be expanded.
Carbon unit sales, fees and compensations for waste disposal, as well as utilization fees paid for imported vehicles, will play an important role in forming the fund's resources. From 2027, a large portion of fees for motor vehicles and tire products will be transferred to the fund.
The fund's activities will be conducted with transparency and public oversight. Independent public representatives will also be part of the management board.
Their task is to ensure targeted and rational spending of the funds. This approach will mark a new stage in solving environmental problems in the country and is expected to make a significant contribution to environmental protection (source: zamin.uz).
