In recent days, the air quality in Tashkent city has noticeably deteriorated, sparking numerous discussions. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Sherzod Habibullayev, head of "O'zgidromet," clarified this issue and provided information about the causes of air pollution and when the situation is expected to improve. According to him, several natural factors coincided simultaneously, exacerbating the problem.
According to experts' observations, air quality is expected to gradually improve starting from November 24. The main cause of air pollution was temperature inversion.
This process occurs when cold air accumulates near the ground while warm air remains above, preventing the atmospheric layers from mixing. As a result, PM10 particles, which pose a threat to human health, accumulate in the air, increasing the level of pollution.
Such situations are also observed in other cities like Almaty, Bishkek, and Dushanbe during the autumn-winter season. Another important factor is the almost complete lack of precipitation.
Since there was no rain in November, the air was not naturally cleaned, causing dust and combustion particles to remain in the atmosphere for a long time. Additionally, dry climate, reduced vegetation, and global warming also contribute to the increase in dust levels in the air.
This year, even on windless days, PM10 particles have exceeded the norm. Sherzod Habibullayev emphasized that this situation is seasonal, the situation is under constant monitoring, and additional measures will be taken if necessary.
