New opportunities are expected to emerge in Uzbekistan's higher education system. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
After the country ratified the "Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education," there is a possibility that diplomas issued in Uzbekistan will be officially recognized in 38 countries worldwide. This convention was signed by the President on November 11.
This document, developed under the initiative of UNESCO, holds significant importance as the first global agreement of its kind. According to the convention, member states are required to fairly recognize each other's diplomas and qualifications.
Rejection is only possible if there are significant differences in educational standards. Currently, 38 countries have joined this agreement.
Among European countries are France, the United Kingdom, and Sweden; among Asian countries, Japan and South Korea; in Africa, South Africa and Senegal; in America, Uruguay and Ecuador; as well as Australia and New Zealand can be mentioned. Notably, Uzbekistan became the first country in Central Asia to join this convention.
After submitting the ratification document to UNESCO, Uzbekistan will gain full member status within three months. At the same time, the recognition of foreign diplomas in Uzbekistan is governed by a separate procedure.
This process is carried out in accordance with the Law "On Education" and the Cabinet of Ministers' Resolution No. 620. In some cases, foreign diplomas may be recognized without additional exams based on international agreements.
These changes create great opportunities for Uzbek students, teachers, and specialists. This not only improves the quality of education but also provides a broad platform to establish their position internationally.
