Negotiations between Uzbekistan and Russia on Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) are nearing completion. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by Azizbek Uronov, a representative of the Presidential Administration. According to him, the negotiations were held during the past week and agreements were reached on the main issues.
Currently, only some technical matters are in the final review and approval process. Once this process is completed, the negotiations with Russia are expected to be fully concluded.
The negotiations are officially planned to be finalized at the WTO Council meeting to be held at the end of the year in Geneva, Switzerland. At the same time, Uzbekistan also needs to conduct final negotiations with Taiwan for its WTO accession.
It is known that Russia officially became a WTO member in August 2012. Its accession to the organization was completed after 18 years of negotiations.
Taiwan became a WTO member at the beginning of 2002. Uzbekistan's accession to the organization is expected to be an important step in expanding the country's international trade relations.
