
Public hearings on the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Jizzakh region are planned to be held on December 23, 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Uzatom announced this information. The event is scheduled to take place in the village of Bog‘don, Forish district.
According to the project, the total capacity of the planned nuclear power plant will be 2.1 thousand megawatts. This capacity will cover 15 percent of Uzbekistan's electricity demand.
Within the framework of the project, the joint-stock company "Atomstroyexport," part of the Russian state corporation "Rosatom," will participate as the main contractor. The project plans to use modern reactors that meet safety requirements.
Once the NPP becomes operational, not only will electricity production be established, but also 13,000 jobs are expected to be created during the construction process. This will have a positive impact on the economic development of the region.
