President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela and Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who arrived in Uzbekistan on November 27 for a working visit. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The meeting discussed issues related to the development of trade-economic and investment cooperation. In particular, the importance of implementing the agreements reached during the high-level visit to Brussels in October of this year was emphasized.
It was noted with satisfaction that relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union are rapidly developing, and a new, comprehensive bilateral cooperation agenda has been formed. This year, the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) was signed, important summits were held in Samarkand and Brussels, and negotiations on Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization were completed.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and the European Union has increased by nearly 7 percent. It was emphasized that the implementation of the EPCA will serve to increase trade volume and boost investment flows.
Additionally, the necessity to expand and diversify trade, develop new joint projects in areas such as industrial cooperation, transport, digitalization, critical minerals, energy, and healthcare was noted. During the meeting, views were exchanged on pressing issues on the international and regional agenda.
Such meetings are expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
