President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law banning the sale of electronic cigarettes and liquids intended for them. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The press service of the Ministry of Justice reported this. According to the new law, large-scale production, export, or import of electronic cigarettes is prohibited.
Financial and criminal measures will be applied against those who violate this rule. The fine can reach up to 500 base calculation units, which is up to 206 million soums.
In addition, offenders may be punished with correctional labor for up to three years or imprisonment for up to five years. The law also provides for strict measures for repeated violations.
However, if the offender voluntarily approaches law enforcement agencies, admits guilt, and surrenders the prohibited products, they will be exempt from punishment. This, in turn, aims to reduce violations and strengthen preventive measures.
This law was adopted to promote a healthy lifestyle in society and to prevent harmful habits among young people.
