
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Australia, Alisher Qayumov, recently presented his credentials to the country's Governor-General, Samantha Mostyn. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The “Dunyo” news agency reported on this. During the meeting, Governor-General Samantha Mostyn highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and acknowledged the country's achievements on its path to development.
Additionally, prospects for cooperation between Tashkent and Canberra were discussed. During the meeting, the parties emphasized opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of cotton and mining industries.
Samantha Mostyn praised the successful organization of the UNESCO conference held in Samarkand. She also noted that Uzbekistan is becoming an interesting and attractive destination for Australian tourists.
According to information, diplomatic relations between Tashkent and Canberra were established in December 1991. At that time, the foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged letters.
Furthermore, since the spring of this year, Alisher Qayumov has also been heading the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore. He presented his credentials to the President of Singapore in April of this year.
