On November 29, the foundation stone was laid for a new plant in Chust district of Namangan region that will process solid household waste and generate electricity from it. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This project is being implemented by China Everbright International, a company specializing in the environmental sector. The total cost of the project amounts to 141.5 million US dollars, and the plant will have the capacity to process up to 1,500 tons of waste per day.
Additionally, it is planned to produce 227.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. The project also aims to create 150-200 new jobs.
The plant is scheduled to be fully operational by 2027. The electricity produced will be sold to the state under a guaranteed contract for 30 years.
This project is being carried out within the framework of a program in Uzbekistan aimed at creating energy resources through thermal processing of waste. Such plants are being constructed not only in Namangan but also in Andijan, Samarkand, and Fergana regions.
These initiatives serve to reduce environmental problems and increase electricity production.
