Starting from January 1, 2026, a new nomination called “Best Taxpaying Mahalla” will be introduced in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This initiative is organized to increase the responsibility of the population in paying taxes on time and in full, as well as to support local businesses. Winners will be determined based on several indicators.
These include the number of small enterprises per thousand people, the amount of taxes they pay, the number of individuals paying income tax, as well as self-employed citizens and the amount of their taxes. Additionally, the degree of full payment of property and land taxes by the mahalla residents will also be taken into account.
Various forms of support measures will be provided to the winning mahallas. In particular, they will be able to participate in initiative budget projects without any restrictions.
Even if they have won previously, they will be allowed to participate again. If the population pays at least 25 percent of the project value, the remaining 75 percent will be allocated from the state budget.
Each year, every mahalla ranked among the top 100 will receive 2 billion soums from the state budget. These funds will be directed towards solving social and economic problems, improving the area, strengthening infrastructure, and enhancing the living conditions of the population.
This initiative serves as an important step in increasing tax culture in mahallas and stimulating economic activity.
