Extensive reforms are being carried out in the energy sector in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the inauguration ceremony of new facilities, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev provided detailed information about the tasks ahead for the sector, the achievements made, and future goals. According to the head of state, the role of local manufacturers is increasing in modernizing the country's energy system and expanding the use of alternative energy sources.
In his speech, the President touched upon the prospects of the “Angren Energo” and “O‘zhydropower” companies. Confidence was expressed that they will become large energy enterprises meeting international standards in the future.
These companies not only supply the domestic market with modern equipment but also make a significant contribution to the development of the entire energy sector. Currently, small solar panels with a capacity of over 2,000 megawatts have been installed across the country.
In 2023 alone, nearly 2 billion kilowatt-hours of alternative energy were produced using these panels. This not only helps increase the stability of electricity supply but also reduces dependence on energy imports.
Work on updating the electrical infrastructure is also progressing steadily. In the regions of the country, 69,000 kilometers of power lines, 14,000 transformers, and high-voltage substations have been renovated.
Local products and services are widely used in these projects. In 2023, local enterprises provided $700 million worth of metal structures, cables, electrical equipment, and engineering services.
The 38-megawatt hydroelectric power station in the Norin cascade was built entirely based on local products, once again demonstrating the capabilities of local manufacturers. Additionally, the “Angren Energo” company, producing 15,000 transformers annually, and the “O‘zhydropower” company, preparing 155 hydro units, are expected not only to meet domestic demand but also to actively participate in international projects.
According to President Mirziyoyev, these efforts are of great importance in ensuring Uzbekistan's energy security and developing industry based on local products. Such an approach serves as an important step in ensuring the sustainable growth of the country's economy.
