The press service of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation announced this. On December 5, the results of the UI GreenMetric 2025 international ranking of environmentally sustainable universities were announced in Taiwan.
The study involved 1,745 universities from 105 countries. Uzbekistan participated in this ranking with 79 higher education institutions, of which 38 succeeded in entering the world’s best “green” universities.
According to the Ministry, with 2025 declared as the “Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy,” universities in the country are actively involved in ecological initiatives. Consistent work is being carried out in higher education institutions to create sustainable infrastructure, use resources wisely, expand green areas, and implement strategies based on international standards.
These efforts have led to the high evaluation of the universities. The UI GreenMetric 2025 results confirm the firm steps of Uzbekistan’s universities in the field of environmental sustainability and innovative development.
According to the information, UI GreenMetric is a global ranking organized by an Indonesian university since 2010, assessing higher education institutions’ environmental policies, energy-saving programs, waste recycling, green infrastructure, and approaches in ecological education. The results of Uzbekistan’s universities demonstrate the practical effectiveness of the “green” reforms being carried out in the country.
