The first batch of Hyundai Rotem high-speed trains specially manufactured for Uzbekistan was officially dispatched from the Masan port in Changwon city, South Korea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The ceremony was attended by a delegation led by Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, representatives of the Korean government, and executives of Hyundai Rotem. The new high-speed trains were named "Jaloliddin Manguberdi" and will operate on the Tashkent — Urgench — Khiva route.
Once services on this route are launched, it will be possible to cover approximately 1000 kilometers in just 7 hours. These trains were manufactured based on a contract signed in June 2024 between Uzbekistan Railways and Hyundai Rotem.
This project is the initial step towards developing high-speed rail transport in Uzbekistan, with plans to purchase 5 more such trains in the future. The project plays an important role in strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the transport sector, modernizing the railway system, and implementing high-speed services.
