Kazakhstan's state company "QazaqGaz" and Uzbekistan's enterprise "Uztransgaz" have signed an official contract for gas transit through their territories. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The "QazaqGaz" press service reported this. It is emphasized that this agreement will take the energy cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
The contract was signed by Asqar Isoqov, acting chairman of the board of "Uztransgaz" on behalf of Uzbekistan, and Alibek Jamauov, chairman of the board of "QazaqGaz" on behalf of Kazakhstan. The parties noted that this agreement will serve to ensure stability in the gas supply chain.
According to the official statement, the signing of the contract strengthens previous agreements on gas transportation and further deepens mutual cooperation in the field of gas transport. This will contribute to increasing the reliability of the regional energy infrastructure.
It was especially emphasized that the importance of this agreement is significant in maintaining stable gas supply during the autumn-winter season. Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, announced that the contract concerns the transit of Russian gas.
According to him, this agreement not only maintains current volumes but also envisages expanding transit capabilities in the future. The minister stated that the possibility of increasing the transit volume up to 8.4 billion cubic meters per year is being considered.
Experts believe that this agreement will strengthen strategic energy cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and positively impact the stability of gas supply in the Central Asian region. This will increase the efficiency of transit routes and reduce seasonal risks.
