
On December 26, 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced in his address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan that work has begun to launch the country’s first cosmonaut and satellite into orbit. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The head of state emphasized that this initiative will give new impetus to the development of science and technology. This news is expected to mark the beginning of a new era in the field of science and technology in Uzbekistan.
Additionally, the International Astronomical Congress is planned to be held in Samarkand in 2028. This event will serve to showcase the country’s scientific potential on a global scale.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Uzbekcosmos Agency and the Innovation Development Agency reached an agreement to launch a small satellite together. Young specialists from Uzbekistan will be involved in this project.
Earlier this year, in the summer, cooperation with SpaceX was discussed in Tashkent, with the company expressing its readiness to assist Uzbekistan in developing a space research strategy. Such initiatives lay the foundation for the country’s achievements in the space sector.
