Greenhouses heated with coal but operating without filters in Tashkent city and Tashkent region will be closed and relocated outside the capital's territory. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his annual address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan. This decision was made as part of measures aimed at improving the ecological balance in the country and protecting the environment.
In his speech, the head of state identified green energy, rational use of water resources, and ensuring ecological balance as key priorities. According to official data, nearly two thousand greenhouses are currently operating in Tashkent city and region.
Most of them use coal and gas, but many have boiler rooms operating without filters. Especially during the autumn-winter season, this situation seriously harms air quality and the ecological condition.
For this reason, the use of boiler rooms without filters will be completely stopped. Greenhouses will be moved out of the capital area, and their heating systems will be organized through centralized boiler houses.
Additionally, new agro-clusters will be established on more than 200 hectares for placing greenhouse farms. Subsidies are planned for greenhouses wishing to join these clusters.
Moreover, a credit line of 100 million dollars will be opened for large enterprises. These funds will be directed towards installing filters, purification facilities, and stations for controlling harmful waste emissions.
Earlier, after it was found that coal smoke from 10 greenhouses in Tashkent district polluted the air, the activities of these farms were immediately suspended. Such strict measures are aimed at addressing environmental problems.
