President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced a plan to elevate the fight against corruption in Uzbekistan to a new level in his address to the parliament and the nation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This process will be implemented urgently starting from 2026. The head of state assessed corruption as a serious threat to the country's development, emphasizing that this vice undermines the principles of justice, disrupts the rule of law, and weakens trust in society.
Furthermore, he firmly stated that there is no room for compromise in the fight against corruption. According to the President, special representatives and internal control departments will be established within government agencies.
Representatives of the Accounts Chamber will also be involved. These structures will be responsible for detecting corruption risks in advance and preventing the illegal use of budget funds.
Notably, these control bodies will report directly to the president regarding their activities, which strengthens accountability. In his speech, the President emphasized that no one can be above the law due to their position or title.
"Everyone is equal before the law," he said. The control systems will fully cover law enforcement agencies, tax and customs services, banks, large state companies, ministries, and local government bodies.
Ensuring transparency in these sectors and eliminating factors that facilitate corruption have been set as priority tasks. Individuals obstructing compliance services were warned that they would be considered accomplices in corruption and held legally accountable.
In conclusion, starting from 2026, the fight against corruption will be carried out not only in words but through strict measures. This principle is aimed at ensuring personal responsibility and the supremacy of law in all sectors.
