Transport management was delegated to local authorities

Significant changes have been made to the transport infrastructure management system in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the new law signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the authority to manage certain segments of the road transport network has been transferred to local authorities. These changes were reported by the upl.uz website.
Based on this law, decisions regarding the placement of station complexes will now be made by local authorities. Additionally, the beautification of stations, monitoring their technical condition, and the operation of dispatcher centers coordinating public transport movement have also been assigned to local management.
The law grants local authorities broader powers to improve transport services. They are now responsible not only for constructing stations and regulating their appearance but also for entering into contracts with transport carriers.
Furthermore, the task of developing and implementing plans for organizing road traffic has been entrusted to the authorities. This requires in-depth analysis and precise management of the regional transport system.
Another important aspect is that the right to approve long-term strategies for regional transport development has also been given to local authorities. They are also obligated to monitor and control the indicators set during the law's implementation process.
In addition, the authority to agree on financial expenses for fire safety has been assigned to the local management system. According to experts, these changes will help respond promptly to citizens' appeals and improve the quality of urban infrastructure at the regional level.
Moreover, law enforcement agencies may be involved in the process when necessary to ensure road traffic safety. The installation of "smart" stations in Tashkent and other major cities has also continued in recent years.
These stations are equipped with air conditioners, phone charging facilities, and free Wi-Fi services to provide convenience to the public. The law will come into effect from the day it is officially announced.
