With the beginning of 2026, ecological safety and sustainable development have become one of the important directions of state policy in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, speaking about ecological reforms, emphasized that without changes in societal mindset and business culture regarding the environment, progress will not be achieved quickly. She stated that initiatives in healthcare, education, and ecology are long-term plans, and results can only be achieved through systematic and consistent work.
This was reported by upl.uz. During the conversation, the issue of air quality in Tashkent was discussed.
Saida Mirziyoyeva reminded that the head of state approved a package of measures aimed at reducing pollution. According to this plan, resources have been mobilized and control over pollution sources has been strengthened.
Additionally, law enforcement agencies conducted raids, and positive results were recorded in a short time. Saida Mirziyoyeva stressed the importance of each individual's personal responsibility in ecological reforms.
She mentioned that she maintains the temperature in her home around 21–23 degrees Celsius, noting that this positively affects both energy saving and children's health. Based on the experience of Germany and South Korea, she also proposed promoting the habit of maintaining moderate indoor heating and dressing more warmly in Uzbekistan.
In the field of entrepreneurship, it was noted that ecological responsibility must become a mandatory rule of doing business. Efforts are being intensified to install modern filtration systems in manufacturing enterprises and to train entrepreneurs on ecological safety.
New requirements are also being introduced in the transport sector, with responsibility for technical condition planned to be assigned to citizens. Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized the need for reforms in the education system as well.
She stated that the collective approach inherited from the Soviet era limited individual initiative and stressed the necessity of instilling personal responsibility in the minds of young people. Moving away from the passive view that the state will solve everything, every citizen must feel responsibility for their own future and the environment.
In his December address, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev identified ecology as one of the most important directions for 2026. Afforestation, reducing water losses, developing environmentally friendly transport, and implementing strict eco-standards in industry were included among these program goals.
Within the framework of the "Green Space" program, a digital map of trees has been created in the country, which helps monitor the condition of seedlings and ensure their survival.
