Uzbekistan has established new measures against climate risks

Within the framework of Uzbekistan's "2030" strategy, new measures have been established to combat the negative impacts of climate change. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In this strategy, reducing risks such as drought, desertification, dust storms, and rising temperatures is recognized as one of the main directions. According to the project, improving the quality of hydrometeorological monitoring and forecasting, determining agrometeorological data for agriculture, and efficient use of natural resources are set as priority tasks.
Within the strategy, the following goals are planned to be achieved: reaching 100 percent coverage of the early warning system for hazardous hydrometeorological events, increasing the accuracy of mountain river flow forecasts to 98 percent, establishing protective forest belts over 600 thousand hectares, and achieving 96 percent reliability in forecasts of agricultural crop yields. Additionally, it is planned to restore 6,075 hectares of areas where mineral resources have been extracted and to increase productivity by 30-35 percent through creating high-yield crop varieties adapted to the climate of each region.
This project is aimed at early assessment of natural disaster risks, timely informing the population, effective management of water resources, and adapting agriculture to climate change. These measures serve as an important step in enhancing Uzbekistan's ecological sustainability and advancing sustainable development globally.
