New gas reserves discovered in Ustyurt

On January 10, 2026, an industrial-scale natural gas flow was detected in the Shagirlik-lower Jura exploration well No. 2 located in the “Moynoq” field in the Ustyurt region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This well was drilled to a depth of 5,265 meters, with natural gas reserves found between 5,061 and 5,265 meters. The exploration work is being carried out by the “Uzbekgeophysics” joint-stock company and the “Institute of Geology and Exploration of Oil and Gas Fields” state institution.
According to future plans, drilling operations for exploration wells No. 3 and 4 are scheduled to be conducted in this area. The discovery of natural gas flow will contribute to increasing the region’s energy potential and make a significant contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry.
