New gas reserves discovered at the "Moynaq" field

A new natural gas flow has been identified at the 'Moynoq' gas field on the Ustyurt plateau. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This news was reported by the 'UzA' news agency. According to the information, geologists discovered gas-rich layers at approximately 5,000 meters depth in the Shagirlik-lower Jurassic No. 2 exploration well.
Drilling operations at this well were successfully completed on January 10, 2026. Within the project framework, geological exploration and drilling works were carried out jointly by the 'Uzbekgeofizika' joint-stock company and the State Institute of Geology and Exploration of Oil and Gas Fields.
Experts emphasize that this discovery will significantly expand the possibilities for developing hydrocarbon resources in the region. In the future, drilling operations for two more exploration wells — No. 3 and No. 4 — are planned to begin.
This will contribute to increasing Uzbekistan's energy potential, meeting domestic demand, and expanding export opportunities. Discoveries like this at the 'Moynoq' field are of great importance for the country's economy and will help strengthen Uzbekistan's position in the international gas market.
Experts note that this development lays the foundation for achieving sustainable and efficient progress in the energy sector.
