Waste Management: 2025 Results Announced

The Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development under the Ecology Committee of Uzbekistan held a briefing on the work carried out in 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the briefing, the main results regarding waste management, expansion of sanitation services, infrastructure development, and digitization of the sector were announced. According to the data, 15.1 million tons of household waste were collected nationwide in 2025.
Out of 9,452 mahallas in the republic, 8,105, covering 23.9 million people, were provided with sanitation cleaning services. The population paid 1 trillion 304 billion soums for these services, while accounts receivable amounted to 622.7 billion soums.
Additionally, unreal debts totaling 211.9 billion soums for unprovided services were removed from the electronic system. To ensure transparency in the sector, the “Toza Makon” unified electronic billing system was introduced.
Within the framework of infrastructure development, work is underway to establish eco-industrial zones in 6 regions and 14 transfer points in 11 regions. Plants that process waste thermally to generate electricity are being constructed in Andijan, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Samarkand, Tashkent, and Fergana regions.
Projects for incinerating medical waste to produce heat are being implemented in Tashkent city, Samarkand, and Bukhara. Sanitation enterprises have been supplied with 79 waste transport vehicles and 220 containers.
GPS devices have been installed on 3,230 special vehicles, enabling control over transport movement and service quality. The operation of 23 waste landfills, covering nearly 100 hectares and not meeting environmental requirements, has been suspended.
At the same time, over 21,000 appeals have been reviewed and appropriate measures taken. Source: one.uz.
