Continuous "green" energy project to start in Uzbekistan

From January 11 to 15 this year, the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 international forum was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This forum was dedicated to sustainable development, renewable energy, climate finance, and the “green” economy. It was attended by representatives from over 150 countries, government agencies, major companies, and heads of financial institutions.
During the forum, an important agreement for Uzbekistan was reached. The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, Masdar company, and Emirates Utilities Development Company (EUDC) signed a cooperation agreement to develop a continuous “green” base power project of up to 1 gigawatt in the country.
This project aims to create energy sources that operate continuously throughout the day. The event dedicated to this agreement was attended by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, Minister of Energy Jorabek Mirzamahmudov, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Muhammad Al Mazrouei, and Masdar company’s CEO Muhammad Jamil Al Ramahi.
The documents were officially signed by “O‘zenergosotish” JSC, Masdar, and Etihad Water & Electricity. The project is aimed at solving the base power issue, which is widely discussed in renewable energy.
It is expected to help reduce interruptions in energy supply and meet the demand for reliable “green” energy. Additionally, the project will enable large-scale energy production at competitive tariffs.
In the future, this project is also considered a model experience that can be applied internationally.
