The Armed Forces of Uzbekistan Maintained Leadership in Central Asia

In the updated military power index compiled by Global Firepower, the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan have strengthened their position and secured the leading place among Central Asian countries. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The ranking covers 145 countries, with Uzbekistan occupying the 53rd position. This information was provided by podrobno.uz.
According to the 2026 ranking, Uzbekistan has risen five places compared to last year, surpassing Kazakhstan, which was ranked 58th. One of the country's main advantages highlighted in the ranking is its mobilization capacity.
Out of a population of 36.5 million, nearly 16 million are considered fit for military service. Approximately 120,000 military personnel serve in the Armed Forces, with the majority belonging to the ground forces.
The army's technical equipment also shows high indicators. The country possesses 470 tanks, 8,692 armored vehicles, and 177 self-propelled artillery units, placing Uzbekistan 23rd in the world in this category.
The Air Force has 159 aircraft, including 101 helicopters. Notably, 34 attack helicopters have secured the country the 20th place in the global ranking.
Overall, the composition and technical capabilities of Uzbekistan's forces have reinforced its military leadership position in Central Asia. The rankings of other countries in the region are as follows: Kazakhstan – 58, Turkmenistan – 78, Tajikistan – 100, Kyrgyzstan – 109.
