Uzbekistan Railways is being extensively modernized

Extensive modernization works are planned to be carried out in the railway sector of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These projects have been developed based on the Presidential decree and are defined as part of the “Year of Mahalla Development and Increasing Public Prosperity” program as well as the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy. This was reported by uzdaily.uz.
The “Uzbekistan Railways” joint-stock company plans to produce 1,000 new freight wagons to develop the freight transportation system. Additionally, 50 modern passenger wagons will be prepared to update the passenger transportation system.
Within the framework of renewing the locomotive fleet, 25 diesel and 25 hybrid shunting locomotives will be purchased. Furthermore, new passenger routes are planned to be launched.
High-speed electric trains will be introduced on the Tashkent — Khiva route. Modern electric trains will also be organized on the Tashkent — Bekobod route.
These measures aim to increase the capacity of the railway network, reduce travel time for passengers, and improve the efficiency of freight transportation. Through this, it is intended to meet the needs of the country's economy more effectively.
