Uzbekistan Railways: 1 thousand freight cars, 50 passenger cars will be added

Uzbekistan Railways Joint Stock Company plans to extensively modernize its fleet. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These measures are outlined in the draft Presidential decree and will be implemented based on the state program within the framework of the "Year of Mahalla Development and Enhancing Public Welfare" as well as the priority tasks defined in the "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy. According to the plan, 1,000 new freight cars are to be produced to update the rolling stock for freight transportation. Additionally, 50 new passenger cars will be added to the railway fleet to improve passenger transportation.
Within the framework of developing the locomotive sector, 25 diesel and 25 hybrid shunting locomotives will be purchased. The launch of new passenger routes is also planned.
In particular, a high-speed electric train service will be introduced on the Tashkent – Khiva route. Furthermore, modern electric trains will operate on the Tashkent – Bekobod route.
These measures are expected to contribute to the country's economic development by increasing railway capacity, reducing travel time for passengers, and enhancing the efficiency of freight transportation.
