Births and marriages decreased in 2025

In 2025, significant changes were observed in demographic indicators in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Specifically, the number of births and marriages decreased. This was officially reported by the Ministry of Justice.
According to statistics, in 2025, 884,500 babies were born in the country. This is 5.3 percent less compared to last year's figure of 926,400 births.
This decline was observed in almost all regions, reflecting the overall trend. By region, the highest number of births was recorded in Samarkand region, where 105,800 children were born.
Next were Kashkadarya region (99,000) and Fergana region (98,000). The lowest birth rates were recorded in Navoi region (24,100), Jizzakh region (36,700), and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (38,600).
Additionally, the number of births decreased in Tashkent city and Tashkent region as well. In Tashkent city, 71,400 children were born, and in Tashkent region, 63,500.
These figures are lower compared to last year, and the decline continues in the capital and nearby areas. Interestingly, cases of late parenthood are increasing.
In 2025, 6,100 women over the age of 40 became mothers. Also, 600 men over the age of 60 became fathers.
This indicates that the age of having children and starting a family is increasing in society. The number of marriages has also decreased.
In 2025, 267,100 marriages were registered in the country, which is 1.7 percent less compared to 2024. The year 2024 was recorded as the lowest figure in the last 15 years.
Nevertheless, growth is observed in some areas. For example, the number of marriages with foreign citizens has significantly increased.
In 2025, the number of such marriages reached 3,400. This figure is considerably higher compared to previous years.
