At Tashkent airport, jewelry worth 2.3 billion was seized

At Tashkent International Airport, customs officers prevented attempts to illegally bring in and take out jewelry. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The relevant authorities provided information about this. In the first case, during the inspection of a passenger's luggage on the Tashkent - Almaty flight, metal strips were found inside the suitcase.
These items, identified with the help of an X-ray machine, were yellow-colored jewelry products weighing 350 grams and valued at 549 million soums. The passenger stated that they had received this luggage from an acquaintance and were unaware that it contained jewelry.
In the second case, when a passenger arriving from Istanbul tried to pass through the "green corridor," customs officers conducted an inspection. As a result, jewelry worth 833 million soums and weighing 710 grams was found in the passenger's underwear and socks.
In the third case, a Turkish passenger attempted to carry jewelry by placing it in the pocket of their pants and in their socks. The total weight of the items they tried to carry was 803 grams, with a value of 907 million soums.
The total weight of all the items identified in these cases was 1,863 grams, with a total value of 2.289 billion soums. Criminal cases have been initiated by law enforcement agencies regarding all these incidents.
Measures are continuing to be taken by customs authorities to prevent such violations.
