International Olympiad winners receive billion-soum rewards

A new incentive system has been introduced in Uzbekistan for young people achieving great success in the field of science. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
On February 24, 2026, during an open dialogue with youth, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev provided information about the procedure for rewarding students who won international science Olympiads. In particular, it was announced that Daler Rahimov, a school student who won the International Chemistry Olympiad, received a reward exceeding 1 billion soums.
The event was held at the Koksaroy residence in Tashkent, where an open and sincere dialogue with young people took place. According to the decision adopted in 2024, students who achieve high results in international science Olympiads are awarded large cash prizes.
According to the decision, gold medal winners receive 2500 BHMs, silver medal holders receive 1500 BHMs, and bronze medal winners receive 1000 BHMs as prize money. Currently, one basic calculation amount (BHM) is 412,000 soums.
This means that the reward amounts to 1 billion 30 million soums for a gold medal, 618 million soums for a silver medal, and 412 million soums for a bronze medal. An important aspect of the incentive system is that the reward is given not only to the winning student but also to the teachers who prepared them and the national team leaders.
This reflects attention not only to the result but also to the effort and patience behind it. Such programs by the government of Uzbekistan serve to increase interest in science and support young talents.
This incentive system is seen as an expression of high appreciation for science. This innovation is significant not only for the success of students but also for the entire country, encouraging young people to conquer new heights in the field of science.
Opportunities like these given to science and talent undoubtedly contribute to enhancing Uzbekistan's international prestige. Source: one.uz.
