Pharmaceutical production in Uzbekistan will double by 2030

An important meeting was held on the development of the pharmaceutical industry and the increase of drug production in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, necessary tasks were set to bring the sector to a new level. It is planned to increase the share of locally produced medicines in the domestic market from the current 30 percent to 70 percent by 2030.
To achieve this goal, attracting investments in the sector will be accelerated, with plans to allocate $1 billion by 2026. These investments will constitute more than half of the total funds invested over the past 9 years.
Additionally, increasing drug exports to $1 billion and expanding the production of medicines aimed at disease prevention were identified as priority tasks. During the meeting, it was reported that negotiations were held with over 100 drug manufacturers, 50 importers, and nearly 300 trading companies and investors.
The head of state criticized regional governors for not establishing systematic communication with entrepreneurs. From now on, strengthening close cooperation with pharmaceutical enterprises and promptly resolving the problems of business representatives is required.
