The use of the Tashkent Metro has sharply increased, doubling over twenty-five years.

Significant changes have taken place in the public transport system of our capital over recent years. Zamin.uz reports on this matter.
Official data released by the National Statistics Committee shows a sharp increase in the volume of usage of the Tashkent Metro. During 2025, a total of 286 million 800 thousand passengers were transported along the capital's metro lines.
This figure is not just a statistic; it is an important indicator reflecting public trust in the metro and the level of development of urban transport. Historical comparisons make the growth rate even more evident.
At the beginning of the century, in 2000, 125 million 700 thousand people used the Tashkent Metro. Over the past twenty-five years, this number reached 161 million 100 thousand and subsequently continued to grow.
As a result, today the volume of metro usage has nearly doubled compared to the past, proving the efficiency of the city's infrastructure. A deeper analysis of the figures reveals that there were also temporary declines in passenger numbers.
In the mid-2000s, the number of users decreased slightly, but this trend changed in later periods. Especially since 2021, metro usage has recovered at a rapid pace.
While this indicator amounted to 270 million 300 thousand in 2024, a new record was set in 2025. The year 2020 holds a special place among the statistics.
That year, due to various factors, the number of metro users dropped to 38 million 800 thousand. However, following this, the indicator grew steadily, and the capital's metro once again became one of the most convenient and popular means of transport.
Overall, over the last quarter-century, the role and importance of the Tashkent Metro in passenger transport have increased. This once again confirms that it is one of the most important and efficient links in the capital's overall transport system.
In the future, further improvements in convenience for the city's population are expected.
