Sharp increase in AI-92 gasoline prices and decrease in sales volume in Uzbekistan
Recent changes observed in the fuel market within the territory of Uzbekistan have attracted public attention. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

In particular, the price of AI-92 grade gasoline has sharply increased in a very short period of time. According to the official data announced by the Uzbekistan Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the price of this type of fuel rose significantly within one day.

On average, the price of one ton of AI-92 gasoline increased by 7.4 percent compared to previous days, reaching a total of 12 million 720 thousand soms. This price increase coincided with a significant decrease in gasoline sales volume.

Based on exchange statistics, it can be said that the volume of fuel sales has almost halved. For example, on March 13, a total of 3784 tons of gasoline was put up for sale in the market, whereas on March 10, this figure was only 1835 tons.

This indicates a disruption in the balance between supply and demand in the market. Economist Otabek Bakirov sharply criticized the current situation in the fuel sector on his social media page.

In his opinion, the rise in oil prices on the international market serves as an additional excuse for companies with local monopolies to arbitrarily raise prices. Bakirov also expressed that the temporary closure of gas fuel filling stations without specifying a clear reopening time has further worsened the situation.

The main public complaint is that limited options lead to price gouging. Let us observe what measures will be taken in the future to ensure market transparency and protect the interests of the population.
