392 convicts were pardoned on the eve of Navruz and Ramadan

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed a new decree as a symbol of humanity and justice on the eve of the national Navruz holiday and the blessed Eid al-Fitr. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision is aimed at pardoning a group of prisoners living in our country and serves to further strengthen the values of compassion and forgiveness among our people. This event is also noteworthy as a true manifestation of the state's humanitarian policy.
According to the text of the decree, based on the relevant article of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, 392 persons serving sentences were pardoned. This opportunity was granted only to those who sincerely repented for their crimes and firmly decided to follow the right path in the future.
Out of the total number, 223 were fully released from their main sentences and will return to the arms of their parents and relatives. Additionally, 82 persons were granted early conditional release, the sentences of 34 prisoners were replaced with lighter punishments, and the remaining terms of 53 persons were reduced.
The pardoned include representatives from various segments of society. Among them are 3 foreign nationals, 26 women, 14 elderly men over 60 years old, and 166 young people who represent the future of society.
At the same time, 24 persons previously involved in the activities of banned organizations were also included in this list, giving them an opportunity to start their lives anew. The government has been tasked with providing extensive support to the released individuals for meetings with family members and reintegration into society.
The relevant ministries and agencies will take specific measures to ensure their employment, facilitate social adaptation, and encourage a healthy lifestyle. The goal is that every person learns from their mistakes, finds a worthy place in society, and becomes a useful member.
This step will contribute to reducing crime in the future and enhancing our reputation in the international community.
