It is planned to correct geographical names in Uzbekistan based on the rules of the state language.

Work is rapidly underway to further refine the names of geographical objects located within the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan in accordance with the rules and standards of the state language. Zamin.uz reported on this matter.
According to a new draft decision developed by the Government, the process of naming mountain ranges, individual mountains, peaks, steep valleys, passes, and various caves in our country will be reviewed. The primary goal of this initiative is to eliminate existing spelling errors and discrepancies in the writing of geographical names.
The planned changes will be implemented consistently with the Law on the State Language and legal documents concerning the names of geographical objects. As emphasized in the draft text, new and comprehensible names may be proposed for certain objects based on expert recommendations provided by the national commission.
If this program is officially approved, the updated names will be uniformly applied in all legal documents, maps, official correspondence, and databases. This represents a crucial step aimed at ensuring that geographical names are written correctly and in a unified form throughout the country.
The Cadastral Agency is expected to update all necessary documents and maps within two months in collaboration with relevant bodies and institutions. Additionally, local information signs and nameplates installed on roads will be redesigned to fully comply with state language standards.
Officials emphasize that this initiative will help create a single standard for geographical names and prevent discrepancies in spelling and usage. As a result, every citizen and visitor will have the opportunity to clearly understand the names of our country's natural objects in their own language.
