The population of Uzbekistan has exceeded 38 million

As of April 1, 2026, the permanent population of the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 38 million 382 thousand 685 people. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was announced by the National Statistics Committee. According to statistical data, the population has increased by 1.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
Such growth indicates that demographic processes in the country are developing stably and the steady increase in population continues. Analyzing the population composition shows that the difference between the number of men and women is very small.
Specifically, 19.3 million men and 19.1 million women reside in the country. These indicators show that gender balance in society has been maintained.
Additionally, the distribution of the population by location was determined. Currently, 19.6 million people of Uzbekistan's total population live in cities, while 18.8 million live in rural areas.
These figures confirm that urbanization processes—namely, the movement of people to urban areas—are gradually increasing. Industry experts evaluate this growth trend positively.
According to them, the increase and structural composition of the population are important factors for the economic and social development of the country. Demographic growth serves as one of the main drivers for increasing the workforce and creating new infrastructure.
