A state-appointed lawyer is provided free of charge to the poor

A new law aimed at strengthening social protection of the population has been adopted in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This law creates the opportunity for low-income citizens to receive legal aid at the state's expense. The legal act entered into force with Law No. ORQ–1135 (20 April 2026).
The amendments to the law mainly create benefits for segments of the population in need of legal protection. From now on, when low-income individuals apply to the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan to determine the conformity of a law applied by a court with the Constitution, they will have the right to use the services of an advocate and legal advice at the state's expense.
This opportunity will be an important help for citizens in protecting their rights. The procedure for submitting requests for legal aid has also been clearly established.
Applications are processed through the "Legal Aid" information system. Requests are sent directly by the court at the citizen's request.
This mechanism serves to make the process transparent and prompt. At the same time, bureaucratic barriers to receiving legal aid are reduced.
The law came into force from the day it was officially announced. The use of these opportunities has already moved to the practical stage.
The new procedure will make the path to justice easier for low-income citizens. Now they will have reliable support in the form of legal aid provided by the state to protect their rights.
These changes serve to ensure social justice in society.
